Help with Proposal Finder

Search by project number

  • Enter either the whole 9-digit BPA number (i.e. 198906200), or part of the project number (i.e. 89062) in the first search field and press Enter or click the 'search' button. 9-digit numbers were introduced in 2001.
  • If you type anything in the project number field, the title field will be ignored.

Search by project title or sponsor acronym

To search for words in a project title or sponsor acronym, just type in a word or two from the title, or type the sponsor acronym, then click on the 'search' button. Results are returned in order of importance, so documents that include the most references to all your search terms appear first.

  • To search for a multiple-word phrase, like Grande Ronde, just type the phrase:

    grande ronde

  • Use the keywords AND and OR between multiple search terms. For instance, typing trout and cutthroat will find only documents that have both trout and cutthroat, but typing trout or cutthroat will find documents that have either search term or both.

  • Search with the keyword NEAR rather than AND for words close to each other. For example, both of these queries, salmon and steelhead and salmon near steelhead, look for the words salmon and steelhead on the same page. But with NEAR, the returned pages are ranked in order of proximity: The closer together the words are, the higher the rank of that page.

Still can't find a project? Try these tips:

  • Choose "All" funding/review cycles

  • Search for the smallest part of the project number, like 89062

  • If you get too many results, search for more words in the title. If you get too few results, search for fewer words.

  • Choose "show index of all projects" to see if your project is in the database
